Meet the Board

Emily Stabler

Emily Stabler is our Chief Strategist, helping us shape the impact of KCAF and support the amazing young people to whom KCAF gives grants. She is a trusted source of climate action perspectives, and is the warmest (and most highly organized) person we’ve got. She lives in New York, where she works for an organization called GiveDirectly — check it out, it is rad. In her spare time, she is good for a strenuous hike, a glass of wine, a good book, or a lively debate — sometimes all at once.

Corey Moffat

Corey Moffat brings two indispensable things to the KCAF board — the distinctive (trademarked?) Moffat Drive and a law degree. He is the master of the tax filings, and also the guiding force to help stop climate change in a way that reflects and reinforces his brother Kye’s spirit. He works to protect the state of California’s natural resources as a Deputy Attorney General, and has two rambunctious kiddos, one of whom is learning to shoot spider webs and the other is learning to sleep.

Michael O’Herron

Michael O’Herron is KCAF’s founder & first President, which mostly means he starts every meeting with a mandatory joke. Originally from Boulder and now in Berkeley (via San Francisco), he spends his time running, skiing, surfing, soccering, and knee rehabbing. A mathematician turned consultant turned UC Berkeley grad student, he’s now focused on climate tech and stacking his plate with vegetables. A great friend and lifelong curious fellow, he brings a wealth of Kye stories and a strong instinct for impact. He’s moving into a Strategy role at KCAF but sticking on the Board; we’re not done with him yet.

Octave Lepinard

We use Octave for his bottomless reserves of (renewable) energy. If we could plug him into the grid, climate change would not be nearly as big an issue, but we can’t — so we just plug him into our meetings. He is the new President of KCAF, and helps lead our operations, supporting the finance, strategy, and new projects we are developing. When not plugged into KCAF, he is absorbing information as a grad student at UC Berkeley, and skiing, climbing, surfing, kiting, spiking volleyballs in people’s faces, etc. — all on clean power.

Peter Davis

Peter is one of KCAF’s East Coast leaders, and probably our criticalest thinker — based in NYC, he spends his time exploring local parks, playing soccer, and thinking critically. He works in education technology, which is good because he is constantly teaching us how to make KCAF better, including encouraging the use of computers. He leads the finance team, helps keep us on track in meetings, and brings a trusted perspective on climate action. KCAF’s secret weapon.

Erik Arvidsson

Erik is our most athletic board member — and he uses his athleticism to build KCAF websites, plan KCAF events, and generally get stuff done. When not helping lead KCAF, he is representing the Red, White, and Blue (and Middlebury College) on the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup Tour, if you can believe it. He skis super friggin fast, and is also helping us save the sport of skiing from a warm, slushy, bummer of a future.
